Barcelona have reached an agreement with Arsenal for the transfer of Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus, the Catalan club confirmed in an official statement. Spanish media reports suggest the deal is worth around €10 million ($11.5 million).
Reinforcing the Attack
The 29-year-old forward arrives to bolster Barcelona’s attacking line, which has been weakened by the departures of Polish striker Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres earlier this summer. The Spanish champions had been pursuing a forward throughout the summer, but Atlético Madrid refused to enter negotiations with the Catalan giants.
Career Journey
Born in São Paulo, Brazil, Jesus developed at Palmeiras, where he won two league titles and a cup, and was named the league’s best player in 2016. His impressive performances in Brazil earned him a move to Europe, signing with Manchester City under Spanish coach Pep Guardiola in the summer of 2016.
During his time with the Citizens, he made 236 appearances across all competitions, scoring 95 goals and providing 45 assists, while winning the English Premier League title four times. In July 2022, he joined Arsenal, where he played 123 matches, scoring 32 goals and registering 22 assists.
