Apple TV Opens Free Weekend Windows for Three Peanuts Holiday Classics
Apple TV is once again making three Peanuts holiday specials available to watch for free during short, designated weekends. The limited windows require no subscription and are the latest chapter in a long-running tug-of-war over where Charlie Brown, Snoopy and the rest of the Peanuts gang can be seen during the holidays.
Free Weekend Dates for Three Peanuts Specials

The free viewing windows are scheduled around each holiday. It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown will be free from October 17 to 18. A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving follows on November 14 and 15. A Charlie Brown Christmas closes the run on December 12 and 13.
All three specials can be watched in the Apple TV app. Viewers who do not subscribe can stream them at no cost during those specific weekends, while subscribers retain year-round access to the same titles at any time.
Subscription Versus Free Access
The distinction matters for families who have not signed up for Apple TV. During the free windows, no subscription is required, and the specials are available to anyone using the app. Outside those dates, the specials remain behind the subscription wall.
Apple TV holds the streaming rights to the Peanuts holiday library, a fact that has shaped how the specials reach audiences in recent years. The company has moved toward offering brief free streaming windows rather than keeping the titles exclusively for paying customers.
How a Petition Reshaped the Holiday Lineup
The current arrangement follows a 2020 petition that sought to return the Peanuts specials to broadcast television. That effort gathered hundreds of thousands of signatures, reflecting how closely audiences associate the specials with traditional TV airings.
In response, Apple allowed PBS to air the specials in 2020 and 2021. Those broadcasts represented a temporary bridge between the streaming era and the decades when the Peanuts holidays were a fixture on broadcast schedules.
After 2021, Apple shifted to a different approach: free streaming windows on specific weekends. That model is now in place for the current holiday season, giving viewers a no-cost way to watch while preserving the subscription value for the rest of the year.
New Holiday Specials Joining the Peanuts Lineup
The free Peanuts windows are not the only holiday programming on Apple TV this season. A new Snoopy special is set to premiere, adding a fresh entry to the Peanuts catalog. A new Fraggle Rock holiday special is also scheduled to debut.
Together, the free weekends and the new premieres give Apple TV a holiday slate that mixes familiar Peanuts titles with new material. For viewers who only want the classics, the key dates are October 17–18, November 14–15 and December 12–13.
