Zamalek Takes Zizo Dispute to Parliament, New Updates on Pezeira

The ongoing conflict between Zamalek and Ahmed Zizo has taken a new turn, as the club’s treasurer announced plans to escalate the matter to the Egyptian Parliament. Dr. Hossam El-Mandouh, who also serves as a member of parliament, revealed the move during televised statements on Sunday, shedding light on the club’s grievances regarding the player’s contract.

Contract Discrepancies Spark Parliamentary Action

El-Mandouh expressed frustration over the disparity between the financial demands made by the player and the officially registered contract. He highlighted that Zizo had requested 80 million Egyptian pounds per season from Zamalek, yet his registered contract with the Egyptian Football Association reportedly lists only 5 million pounds annually.

“Is this logical?” El-Mandouh questioned, emphasizing that this issue extends beyond a single player. He noted that other contracts follow a similar pattern, prompting his decision to raise the matter in parliament. He called for state intervention to review player contract files, especially after Hani Abu Rida, head of the Egyptian Football Association, acknowledged that some contracts are valid while others are not.

Background of the Zizo-Zamalek Conflict

The dispute traces back to Zizo’s refusal to renew his contract with Zamalek, leading to tensions that escalated when he moved to arch-rivals Al Ahly on a free transfer. Both parties have since filed complaints against each other with the Egyptian Football Association, prolonging the standoff.

New Developments on Pezeira's Situation

El-Mandouh also addressed the ongoing case of Brazilian player Juan Pezeira, who has been absent from the club since the start of the season. He confirmed that Pezeira is expected to return to Cairo within days, as Zamalek continues to handle the matter through official and legal channels.

“In life, some matters require negotiation,” El-Mandouh stated. “We are communicating formally and legally to achieve the greatest benefit from this situation.” He stressed that any discussion about the player’s departure would only occur after his return and subsequent talks, reaffirming the club’s strong legal position.

El-Mandouh warned that if Pezeira fails to return, Zamalek would pursue severe legal measures. He also referenced the club’s official statement, which set a price of 6 million dollars for the player’s transfer.
