Alexander Isak Matches Last Season’s Premier League Haul in Just Three Games
Alexander Isak struck twice inside the opening nine minutes to secure Liverpool a 2-0 victory over Ipswich Town at Portman Road on Friday evening, in the third round of the English Premier League.
The Swedish forward needed just three minutes to complete his brace, netting in the 6th and 9th minutes, with both goals set up by Dutch international Cody Gakpo.
Isak Reaches Three Premier League Goals
With this double, Isak moved to three goals in the Premier League this season—matching his entire output from the previous campaign, which was hampered by a significant injury that kept him sidelined for an extended period.
The former Newcastle United star had already opened his account for the season in the second round, scoring in Liverpool’s 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest.
Isak's Liverpool Move and Newcastle Legacy
Isak joined Liverpool in the summer of 2025 from Newcastle United, where he had scored 54 goals in 86 Premier League appearances for the Magpies.
Friday’s match against Ipswich was not unfamiliar territory for the Swedish striker. He had previously scored four goals against the same opponent in two Premier League meetings during the 2024-25 season while playing for Newcastle, including a hat-trick at Portman Road.
