Egyptian forward Hamza Abdel Karim has made his first official appearance for Barcelona, coming on as a late substitute in a thrilling 5-2 victory over Rayo Vallecano at Spotify Camp Nou. The 18-year-old entered the match in the 86th minute, replacing Brazilian winger Raphinha.
A Dream Realized
Speaking to Catalan network TV3 after the match, Abdel Karim expressed his delight at the milestone. “I am very happy with my first appearance, and I hope to get more opportunities to play in matches,” he said.
The young striker described the atmosphere as overwhelming. “There was a huge crowd, and I was very excited to play. It was a very strong feeling, and I want to experience this many times. I hope to help the team as much as possible and win everything,” he added.

Abdel Karim also took time to commend his attacking colleagues, Raphinha and Lamine Yamal. About the Brazilian, he said: “He is a wonderful person, and everyone knows he always gives his best, no matter what position he plays in.”
Regarding Yamal, Abdel Karim described him as “a player who has magic in his feet,” noting that “he plays for the team and the fans.”
Path to the First Team
Barcelona announced last June that they had activated the purchase clause for Abdel Karim from Egyptian club Al Hilal, making the young forward a permanent player for the Catalan side. He had joined Barcelona during the previous winter transfer window and spent the latter part of the season with the club’s second team, where he impressed since his debut.
