The football community is in mourning following the death of Mohamed Rahimi, father of Moroccan national team star Soufiane Rahimi. The passing occurred on Thursday after a period of illness.

Al Ain FC Offers Condolences

Al Ain FC, which counts both Soufiane and his brother Houssein among its players, issued a heartfelt message of sympathy. On their official X account, the club stated: “Al Ain Club extends its deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to Soufiane Rahimi and his brother Houssein Rahimi on the passing of their father. We ask God Almighty to shower the deceased with His vast mercy and forgiveness, to grant him a place in His spacious paradise, and to inspire his family and loved ones with patience and solace. Indeed, we belong to God and to Him we shall return.”

Raja Club Athletic Remembers a Loyal Figure

Raja Club Athletic, where Soufiane Rahimi previously played, also shared a tribute. The club’s statement read: “With profound sadness and grief, Raja Athletic Club received the news of the passing of Hajj Mohamed Rahimi, one of the club’s most loyal figures, whose name remained associated with Raja for many years, embodying the highest meanings of loyalty and belonging to the Green Castle.”

The message continued: “On this painful occasion, Raja Athletic Club, on behalf of all its members, extends its warmest condolences and most sincere expressions of sympathy to the family of the deceased and his loved ones, and to all members of the Raja family, asking God Almighty to envelop him in His vast mercy and forgiveness, and to grant him a place in His spacious paradise.”

Soufiane Rahimi's Public Plea for His Father

Earlier, Soufiane Rahimi had publicly shared news of his father’s illness, asking fans and well-wishers to pray for his recovery. In a heartfelt post, he wrote: “Nothing has broken me like my father’s illness. My heart aches when he is in pain, and I am weary, O God. I have no strength to see him suffer. O Lord, You know and see how much his illness breaks me. Have mercy on his weakness and be kind to him. O Lord, heal my father.”

Soufiane Rahimi recently enjoyed success with Al Ain, having won the domestic double last season, clinching both the ADNOC Pro League title and the UAE President’s Cup.
