Mohamed Salah’s move to Turkey has already begun to leave a mark beyond the pitch. According to Turkish reports, the municipality of Yomra, a district in Trabzon, has proposed renaming a street in the Kaşüstü neighborhood to “Mohamed Salah Street.” The decision is expected to be discussed by the municipal council this week and will become official once approved.

Municipality Wants to Honor the Egyptian Star

Yomra Mayor Mustafa Biyik stated that having a world-class player like Salah in the area is a special occasion for its residents. He emphasized that the municipality wants to make this period a permanent part of Yomra’s history. Biyik added that Salah’s transfer is not only a significant deal for Trabzonspor but also one of the most notable moves in the history of Turkish football. He noted that Salah’s presence would help boost the region’s profile and attract more attention.

Street Named After Salah's Home

During the negotiations for Salah’s transfer, the municipality had already expressed its wish for the Egyptian star to choose Yomra as his residence. Now, the process to name the street where his house is located after him has been set in motion.

Salah's Move to Trabzonspor

Salah, 34, joined Trabzonspor in August 2026 on a free transfer after his nine-year spell with Liverpool came to an end. The Egyptian national team captain signed a two-year contract with the Turkish club. So far, he has played five matches for Trabzonspor in the Turkish league and European qualifiers, scoring three goals. His third goal came during his team’s 2-1 loss to Amedspor on Monday.

After being linked with the city of Liverpool for years, Salah’s new presence in Turkey is quickly extending beyond the stadium and into the street where he will live. However, the street naming still awaits official approval from the municipal council.
