Saudi Arabia is positioning itself to host the world’s largest autonomous trucking network by 2030, following a strategic collaboration announced by HUMAIN and Applied Intuition. The long-term partnership aims to establish a national framework for autonomous systems in the Kingdom, beginning with self-driving trucks and eventually expanding to taxis, ports, mining, manufacturing, agriculture, construction, and other sectors.

A Unified National Logistics Network

Under the agreement, the two companies plan to create a unified national logistics network for autonomous transport. This involves deploying thousands of self-driving trucks across key logistics corridors in Saudi Arabia by 2030, laying the groundwork for what they describe as the largest autonomous trucking network in the world.

The project combines HUMAIN’s sovereign AI infrastructure, developed within the Kingdom, with Applied Intuition’s integrated physical AI platform. The goal is to move AI applications from data centers to real-world systems and machines.

Autonomous Trucks as the Starting Point

The first phase of the collaboration focuses on launching autonomous trucking services, which the companies see as a large-scale application with direct impact on transport and logistics. Later, the partnership will extend to other physical AI applications.

Applied Intuition will provide its integrated physical AI platform, designed to operate on a scale of up to one billion moving machines worldwide. The company’s SDS autonomous driving system, along with its vehicle operating system and supporting vehicle intelligence solutions, will form the technical foundation for the collaboration with HUMAIN.

The SDS system is currently used in Level 4 autonomous trucks and is already operating on roads in the United States, Europe, and Japan.

Leadership Perspectives

Tariq Amin, CEO of HUMAIN, said that autonomous transport will reshape the economics of moving goods and people. He noted that operating thousands of self-driving trucks around the clock could significantly transform the speed, cost, and capacity of the logistics network.

Amin added that the collaboration gives Saudi Arabia an opportunity to set a new global standard for autonomous freight and strengthen the region’s position in deploying these technologies at scale.

Qasar Younis, co-founder and CEO of Applied Intuition, described physical AI as “the new horizon for intelligent infrastructure.” He emphasized that the Kingdom’s ambition to deploy these technologies widely aligns with his company’s vision of bringing intelligence to one billion machines worldwide.

A National Ecosystem for Physical AI

The partnership extends beyond transport, aiming to build a scalable model for autonomous systems in multiple sectors, including mining, agriculture, construction, manufacturing, ports, autonomous taxis, and logistics services.

Saudi Arabia’s geographic characteristics and its network of major freight corridors, along with ongoing investments in logistics infrastructure, provide a suitable environment for expanding the use of autonomous trucks.

The technology is expected to improve fleet efficiency, increase capacity, reduce downtime, and potentially enhance road safety while helping address labor shortages in the commercial transport sector.

As part of the partnership, Applied Intuition is also building a local team of specialized technical talent and opening an office in Riyadh to support the launch, operation, and scaling of autonomous truck fleets.
