iOS 27.2 Beta 1 Arrives With a Redesigned Health App, More Siri Languages, and EU Privacy Tweaks
Apple has released the first beta of iOS 27.2, a version number that arrives ahead of an expected iOS 27.1. The jump means developers and testers are getting their first look at the next round of software features before the iPhone Duo, which is set to ship with iOS 27.1 in October. The release was reported by MacRumors.
The beta touches nearly every corner of the system, from a rebuilt Health app and expanded Siri language support to new Apple TV profiles, CarPlay Ultra customization, and privacy changes aimed at users in the European Union.
A Health App Rebuilt Around Three Tabs

The redesigned Health app, first shown at Apple’s September iPhone event, is included in iOS 27.2 beta 1. It is organized around three main tabs: Insights, Longevity, and Browse.
Insights brings together vitals, a sleep score, heart rate data, and Activity Rings. Longevity introduces a Health Age metric calculated from activity, VO2 max, sleep, and other metrics. The Health Age feature uses camera-based assessments to measure flexibility, strength, balance, and VO2 max.
The revamped app also sports a new icon. However, the redesign is currently available only in U.S. English.
Siri Learns More Languages and Gains an Excluded Apps List

Siri AI is adding five new languages: French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish.
Apple has also renamed the Siri App Access setting to Excluded Apps. The new Add Apps option allows users to exclude multiple apps at once. Apps on the exclusion list are hidden from Siri, Search, and suggestions.
Apple TV Profiles Expand to iPhone and iPad

Profiles in the Apple TV app are now extended to iPhone and iPad. Setting up a profile requires a name, a rating, and child status. A child account defaults to a PG rating.
A Customize option lets users set age ratings for TV and movies. In addition, a sign language interpretation toggle has been added to the TV app settings.
CarPlay Ultra Gets Themes and Ambient Lighting

CarPlay Ultra introduces themes that include a wallpaper, gauge style, and color. In supported vehicles, ambient lighting may match the theme color.
Smaller Changes Across Call Context, Clock, Music, and Podcasts

Call Context now adds anniversary alerts. The anniversary reminder appears in the Phone app.
In the Clock app, alarms display smaller a.m. and p.m. indicators. The Music app removes some red accents; the Play and Shuffle buttons in the Library are now black, as are the Library section icons.
Podcasts has renamed Up Next to New Episodes. A Continue Playing option appears below New Episodes.
App Tracking Transparency Adjusts for the EU

Apple’s release notes mention changes to App Tracking Transparency. The feature now supports an alternative expanded prompt for users in the European Union. Re-prompting occurs annually. The alternative prompt is required in France, Germany, Italy, Poland, and Romania.
ASL FaceTime API Appears Live

The ASL FaceTime API, which Apple said in May it would add, appears live in iOS 27.2. The API is intended for sign language interpreters.
